Welcome to our website. Since 2013, Black River Studios has been working from our custom-built photography studio in Holland, MI. We specialize in studio photography, but if you need us to go on location, we’ll be thrilled to do it. With an interest in technology and art, photography soon became a passion that Benjamin Herrera couldn’t deny. Though Black River Studios got its start with the photographers shooting photos of family members, friends and nature, now they all work with paying clients. Over the years, we have not only improved our technique, but developed our own personal style.

HERE'S A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT US:
The history of Black River Studios started in 2005 as Twin Star Productions. It was started by my brother and I...who is my twin brother. It only lasted until I moved to California in May 2006. It died out until I started Digital Age Productions when I lived in Hanford, CA. From 2006-2009 I started making videos for friends who would do videos for their homemade dirt bike track. That lasted until I decided to move back to Michigan after being in California for 6 years. In 2012, I renamed the company to 616 Studios. Then I made my first video called "Final Brawl" with friends and family. After a year of nothing, I decided to change the name again due to naming rights. I changed it to Red Lighthouse Studios. Since at the time I moved back to Holland, Michigan. From 2012-2013 I would do side projects and do more photos than anything else. I decided to enroll in Kalamazoo Valley Community College to major in Film/Photography. Where I learned how to do more editing to film and photos. In 2014, I renamed the business to Black River Films in 2015 is that I was in the area where the "Black River" flowed through. After a year of ups and downs, slow production, nothing happening. I changed the name to its current name of Black River Studios since we do more than just films. 2013, is Black River Studios founding year, since its when I became my own business.

Hello,
My name is Benjamin Herrera, the owner of Black River Studios based in Holland, MI. I started Black River Studios in 2013 after moving back to Michigan after spending 6-years in California as mentioned above. I am married with two kids. My wife and I got married in 2013, her name is Tracy Herrera, she is my best friend. I was born and raised in Holland, MI on August 31, 1979. I have earned several degrees in the film industry, I'm a current graduate of Full Sail University as a Digital Cinematographer.

Full Sail University - GRADUATED IN MARCH, 2021 WITH A 3.74 gpa with Associates Degree (2021) Currently working on Bachelor's Degree (2023) both degrees are for Digital Cinematography.
